Hey, what are first novels for if not massive wish fulfillment? (Be warned: a bit graphic in places.) Out of print, but I’m always happy to see that collectors buy copies of it for upward of 30 dollars, even though it originally sold for $5.99. His later novels, in particular Black Glass and the Eclipse Trilogy, cemented his reputation. She was also the editor of Cyberpunk: Malaysia, a collection of science fiction stories published by Fixi Novo. Melzer's investigation makes it clear that feminist writings and readings of science fiction are part of a feminist critique of existing power relations—and that the alien constructions (cyborgs, clones, androids, aliens, and hybrids) that populate postmodern science fiction are as potentially empowering as they are threatening.

I 1980'erne indledte William Gibsons roman, Neuromancer, cyberpunk-genren, hvor der blev lagt vægt på forholdet mellem menneske og maskine, beskrevet i samfund, der ikke ligger tidsmæssigt langt fra vores.
